With the unique shape of the valve cutouts, this new HIGH TECH piston was developed to raise compression to the highest effective static compression without exceeding the maximum thermal efficiency of the engine. The integrated tulip valve pocket reliefs are shaped to match to the typical valve faces to so that it eliminates the need to spend $150+ on each valve for flat faced valves.
Why spend $600 for four flat faced valves to raise compression when you can get a top-of-the-line piston with all the race performance features for less than half the cost for custom valves?
Every DRG piston are manufactured to easily permit large lift high overlap camshaft profiles without worrying about Piston-to-Valve (P-V) clearances. Even custom camshaft profiles with high lift high overlap are not a problem with the DRG 15:1 Race piston.
Additionally, each piston has been setup to provide maximum squish by raising the compression height (wrist pin centerline to deck of piston) of the piston. Optimum squish maximizes power gains, but more importantly, it keeps the piston cooler to minimize detonation by raising the turbulence across the pistons deck.
To reduce the weight of the piston, each piston underside is milled by an under-crowning CNC process to remove metal where its not needed so that each DRG piston is an ultra-fast light revving piston. |
